The only schema markup most businesses actually need in 2026

Accendoz·

Schema advice drowns in completeness. For a typical business five types do nearly all the work: Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, FAQPage and Article, all sharing one stable identity and matching your visible content exactly. Everything else is polish.

Machines cite what they can verify. Structured data is how you stop being a bag of paragraphs and become an entity with a name, an address, services and answers. But the schema vocabulary is enormous, and most of it does nothing for a service business.

The five that matter: Organization as your root identity, LocalBusiness with geo and hours if customers visit or you serve an area, Service for each offering, FAQPage where you genuinely answer questions, Article for posts. Link them with stable identifiers so every page reinforces one entity.

The two failure modes

Markup that contradicts the visible page, and markup that contradicts your listings elsewhere. Both teach machines to distrust you, which is worse than absence.

Validate with Google's rich results test after every site change, and treat your business facts like code: one source of truth, propagated everywhere.
